Reps Set Up Committee To Scrutinize Documents of MDAs

The House Committee investigating Federal Government Funds hanging with Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) say it would set up a subcommittee to scrutinise documents of the Ministries of Justice as well as trade and investment.

The Committee disclosed this during a hearing on Unclaimed and Hanging funds of the Federal Government domicile in MDAs,Commercial Banks and the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN.

Chairman of the Committee,Hon Unyime Idem had informed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Beatrice Jedy-Egba that her Ministry is owing the Federal Government to the tune of 95 billion naira from its operating supplus that should be remitted to the Federal Government.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment ,Evelyn Ngige was also informed of the 744 million naira revenue generated by the Ministry that has not been paid to the Federal Coffers.

In their reaction,the Permanent Secretaries said all revenues generated by their ministries have been paid yo the Federal Government.

They appealed to the committee to for more time to engage them further with a view to provide clarification .

Ada Onah-Ifowodo reports that the Committee also met with the Investment and Security Tribunal,directing the Agency to furnish the Committee with documents with details of it operations.
