As the Delta state government intensifies effort to ensure children enjoy the Home grown feeding programme of the Federal government in the state, Caterers in the various local governments have been urged to double their efforts to meet up their task of daily feeding the children in schools


The commissioner in the Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Doctor Darlington Nnamdi Ijeh,  stated this during a meeting organized by the ministry today in Asaba, to intimate the caterers on the recent implementation plan of the federal government and the measures put in place by the State Government to ensure the programme is a success.


The Commissioner said, In the less that two months he had assumed office, the ministry made sure that money allocated per pupil is increased by the Federal Government to 100naira, against the 70naira he met. 


While highlighting other achievements amongst others to include, timely payment of caterers,  Doctor Ijeh advised them to play their part, as Government had already played it's part in ensuring money is made available as and when due.

The state Focal Person, Mr. Henry Senator Agwazim in an interview with our Correspondent Godwin Emeyazia said the meeting was to inform the caterers of the measures the state government is putting in place, to ensure the success of the programme in the state.


He said over 100 application forms was brought to the state, which will create opportunity for more caterers to be engaged in the programme, thereby addressing the issue of unemployment.

Others who spoke at the meeting including Honourable Murray Okpor, said non challant attitude of caterers would not be tolerated as supervisors will be going round the three senatorial districts to ensure compliance .
