Tinubu Endorses NEITI Stakeholders’ Working Group.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of a 15-man National Stakeholders’ Working Group for the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
Chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, including representatives from various stakeholders in the extractive industry in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, said, the group members include the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC Ltd Mele Kyari.
Other members of the are; Oghenegwueke Ajafia, representative of the Oil Producers Trade Section, Lagos Chamber of Commerce; Dele Ayanleke, President of the Miners Association of Nigeria; and Engr. (Mrs.) Nkechi Isigwe, representative of Women and Geo-scientists, including seve4ral others.
The reconstitution of the NSWG is a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the extractive industry. We are confident that the new members will bring their expertise and experience to bear in promoting the goals of NEITI”, the statement said.
The NSWG National Stakeholders’ Working Group for the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative is responsible for promoting transparency and accountability in the extractive industry, and its reconstitution is seen as a significant step towards achieving this goal, while, the inauguration of the Board will be announced in due course.
