Gbajabiamila Threatens Warrant of Arrest on Emefiele
The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has threatened a warrant of arrest on the Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele over his refusal to honour invitation to brief members on the current cash swap policy that has thrown the entire country into pandemonium with citizens and businesses bearing the brunt.
The speaker described the actions of the CBN governor and his Bank Directors as a blatant disregard and an insult to the Nigerian people and the parliament.
The speaker says he will not hesitate to issue a warrant of arrest on the CBN and his officers in pursuant to Section 89 1D of the constitution of Nigeria and order 1921 of the standing orders of the House of Representatives to the IGP to compel the attendance of the CBN governor and or his executives should they fail to honour today's rescheduled invitation.
Earlier the majority leader of the house Alhassan Doguwa briefed the house on the blatant refusal of the CBN to appear before the house special adhoc committee to explain the controversy surrounding the cash swap policy.
Members of the bankers committee are expected to appear before the adhoc committee today,Thursday 26th of January ,2023
