Assembly Suspends Lawmaker Over Alleged Misconduct.

Delta State House of Assembly has suspended the member representing Ughelli North I

Constituency, Matthew Omonade over alleged gross misconduct.

The suspension order was pronounced by the Speaker, Dennis Emomotimi Guwor,

while, the motion was preceded by a motion raised on the floor of the house by the

Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi, Aniocha North.

The motion was supported by the Chief Whip of the House, Perkins Umukoro, Sapele,

and was unanimously adopted by the House.

The suspended lawmaker was alleged to have willfully and falsely perverted the

proceedings of the House, while, according to the Majority Leader, the lawmaker’s

alleged action violates the standing order and rules of the House, which necessitated

the need for the suspension.

Following the adoption of the motion, Omonade was suspended for a period of 14

legislative days, and also mandated to hand over to the management of the House all
