Shaibu Tackles Ighodalo.

Shaibu Tackles Ighodalo.

Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has urged residents of the state not to vote for a Governorship candidate who relies on an interpreter to address the people.

This was as Shaibu urged residents to vote for a “homeboy” as the next Governor of the state.

He made the appeal in Irrua, the administrative headquarters of the Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.

He went on to say that a candidate who needed an interpreter did not qualify as a homeboy since he couldn’t speak the Edo dialect.

Peoples Democratic Party, Governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, had faced criticism for hiring an interpreter to announce his intentions to his kinsmen at a ward in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.

Ighodalo, who was campaigning for the PDP governorship ticket, addressed the crowd in English language, asking for their support, while an interpreter translated his words into Esan.
