An analyst have said the criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State is within the limit of the governor's constitution right.
Mr. Philip Nyam, a guest on ATN Politics stated this while commenting Ortom insistence no sustaining criticism of President Buhari's government until the killings in his state are put to an end.
He said, the governor is faced with insecurity and as such he has every right to draw the attention of the president to the plights of his people.
"Here you have a governor of a State that is faced with insecurity where his people are being killed every now and then and his been crying out. In that case, if he is saying he won't stop until this problem is over I will not blame him. He was elected by the people to work for them.
"As governor, he is the chief security of the state and so he should be concern about the plight of his people, especially when it comes to their lives and property. If people are dying, if people are being killed he has the right to draw the attention of Mr. President and Mr. President is not working the way he expects, his not even taking the steps he even suggested to him, he has the right to criticise him.
"I don't think there is something wrong with criticism but if he is abusing the president, that will not be right," he said.
Mr Nyam said the presence of an internally displaced persons' camp in Daudu, along Lafia Makurdi expressway confirms the insecurity in the state.
"There are reports. I am not saying there is no insecurity in the state, there is. There are reports of people being killed, people who have been sacked from their ancestral land, people who have been sacked from their farms.
"If you are traveling to Makurdi from Lafia as you are about entering Makurdi you see IDPs. There some IDPs in Daudu just by the road side, that is a sign that all is not well with the state in terms of insecurity.
"How far has the federal government gone to tame the aggression from this people who coming to kill?" He asked.
He, however, urged the federal government to engage state governors in a bid to finding lasting solution to the crises oof insecurity in the country.
"It is high time he (Buhari) calls this governors and sit down and look at this issue. If there is a way, they can resolve the issue and avoid this back and forth and bickering that we keep hearing every that that the federal government is saying the states have no right to set up security outfits or arm them. Lives are being lost, is a fact."
On whether Ortom criticism is political motivated, Mr. Nyam said it is only security agencies can confirm or state otherwise.
Governor Samuel Ortom in response to the call by Hon. Sulaiman Goro on him to acknowledge developmental projects instituted in his state by the federal government instead of casting aspersions said he will continue to criticise the president until the killings in his state are put to an end.
