NSA assures rancor free elections this year.



The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) has assured a rancor free election this year as security agencies is set to dispel all agitations and security threats across the country. 

National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Abuja  after a closed-door  high-level security meeting with the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC,Prof Mahmood Yakubu,the  Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor,  Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba amongst other Heads of Security Agencies.

 Monguno said security outfit have put in place measure to ensure that Nigerians exercise their franchise without fear.  

On his part the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor noted that  the Armed Forces have been following closely the development that is affecting electioneering process .

He said that the military is ready to support the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for the safety of Nigerians during and after the 2023 general election. 

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba who also spoke admitted to the trend of crime and criminality in certain States in the Country.

He said the Nigeria Police Force will  look into the issues and  apprehensions by Nigerians towards the conduct of credible polls.  

Earlier, the Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said in his remarks observed the deployment of more security personnel to INEC facilities nationwide.

He expressed the confidence that that these actions will further reassure voters, INEC personnel, Service providers and other stakeholders of their safety as well as a free,fair and peaceful elections.

The visit of INEC Chairman with  a delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission to  the Office of the NSA to was part of activities to seek collaboration and support towards the conduct of free, fair and credible elections come February 25th 2023.
