Ahead of the return
of the National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Iorchia Ayu
after a two-week vacation in Europe, analyst have faulted his trip saying, it
has not helped the PDP but rather compounded the crisis faced by the party.
Commenting on the
reported return of the Chairman in the face of the bribery scandal rocking the
party, a guest on ATN Politics, Mr. Samson Usman, said, Ayu ought to have
stayed back in the country and ensure that the crises brewing within the party
were well dealt with and nipped in the bud.
Speaking on the
absent of Ayu at the official inauguration of the party’s presidential campaign
Council and the signing of the peace accord by political parties and
presidential candidates this week, Mr. Usman said, Ayu absent has created more
problems for the party because his handing over of the party’s affairs to the
Deputy Vice Chairman North exacerbated the already bad situation. Adding that,
he ought to have been present at the inauguration of PCC to strengthen party
faithfuls and commission them on the task ahead.
On the bribery scandal currently facing the party, Mr. Usman, advised the party to refrain from taking punitive action against those involved as it could have consequential effect.
Dr. Iorchia Ayu, had
left the country for a vacation in Europe amid crisis raging in the party. He
is billed to return today (Friday) to me a fresh dimension to the crises.
