Member representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru Constituency in the House of Representatives, Uju Kingsley has called on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC to reshape the class and quality of people the Commission engaged for conduct of elections in the country.
The call was made by the lawmaker in Abuja, when he addressed members of the House of Representatives Press Corps .
Hon Uju Kingsley alleged plot by some politicians to undermine the 2023 National Assembly elections in his constituency saying that the elections were not conducted in many wards in his constituency including Oru West, Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta amongst others as a result of insecurity and late arrival of INEC staff and materials.
He called for investigation into the activities of INEC staff in his constituency during Saturday’s election in Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru and also appealed to INEC to invite the Returning Electoral Officer REC of Imo and all the INEC staff that worked in the constituency for questioning to ascertain the true situation of things.
Hon Kingsley further called on the INEC Chairman to reject results from wards where elections were not conducted describing any of such as fake.
He said instead of accepting fake election results,the Commission should cancel the election in the entire Federal constituency of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West and conduct a fresh election that will be free and fair.
Kingsley also appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to caution police authority as well as Akuabata Chika Dibia,also known as " Kill and Bury" in Imo to stop the harassment and intimidation of electorates in his constituency.
He further urged the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the relationship of "Kill and Bury " with the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress,APC, for Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru Constituency.
