Nigerian singer, Gabriel Oche
Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has revealed that a physical assault on a
DJ years ago affected his career.
ATN recalls that Terry G
stirred controversy after slapping DJ Jimmy Jatt’s protégé, DJ Phreez, at an
event in Lagos on June 5, 2016, for playing another artiste’s song in a bid to
get him off stage. His action led to the DJs Association of Nigeria, DJAN,
blacklisting him back then.
Speaking in the latest episode
of the Afrobeats Podcast, the ‘Akpako Master’ admitted that the incident
affected his growth as an artiste. He, however, added that he later apologised
to the DJ Phreez and his boss, DJ Jimmy Jatt.
the ‘Akpako Master also
disclosed that he auditioned to be Faze’s backup artiste and got picked after
convincing the singer with his “melodious” voice.
Terry G noted that he was a
great vocalist and R&B singer back then. He added that he served Faze
loyally.
