Lagos State Government has empowered 200 retiring civil servants with life
skills and economic support.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the four-week training programme, the
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Dada, said,
the retirees, who came from across Lagos, were trained in various vocational
skills, including make-up and headgear stoning, catering, throw pillow
making, paint production, soap making, hairstyling, event planning, and
decoration.
They were also equipped with start-up packs to aid their economic relief and
self-reliance and transport fare during the ceremony, held at the Women
Development Centre, Agege and encouraged the participants to fully
leverage the skills they had acquired and to make a significant impact in their
communities.
The Permanent Secretary of WAPA, Oluyemi Kalesanwo, praised the retiring
civil servants for their willingness to adapt, learn, and embrace new skills,
noting that their resilience and courage were exemplary, and also expressed
appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Dada for
their support.
