Reps To Submit Resolutions On Security To NSA.
House of Representatives has urged the Clerk of the Green
Chamber to compile its resolutions on security for transmission to the Office
of the National Security Adviser on the worsening security situation in the
country.
The House took the decision following the consideration of a
motion sponsored by the Minority Leader of the House, Kingsley Chinda, and 28
others during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Speaking on the motion, Kingsley Chinda who represents
Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency, lamented the state of security across the
country in the past few years, which he said had impacted negatively on the
cost of living, especially the cost of food items, adding that despite the
resolutions by the House, nothing has happened by way of execution to mitigate
the attendant consequences.
In his words, many Nigerians would be subjected to food
insecurity if nothing is done to address the challenges of insecurity in the
country.
Following a voice vote on the motion, Deputy Speaker, Benjamin
Kalu, who presided over the plenary session mandated the Clerk of the House “To
compile all House Resolutions on security and forward the compilation to the
