On Wednesday, Lagos police brought 38-year-old Lucky Ugwauka before a Badagry Chief
Magistrates’ Court, charged with allegedly sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter.
Ugwauka, whose address was not disclosed, faces charges of defilement but has pleaded
not guilty.
According to Prosecutor Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, the alleged crime occurred on August 16
at 6:00 p.m. on Abapasha Street in the Ojo area of Lagos. Adeosun stated that Ugwauka is
accused of assaulting his daughter and threatening to kill her if she reported the abuse.
The charges against Ugwauka are said to violate Sections 139, 263, and 58 of the Criminal
Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya set bail for Ugwauka at N500,000, requiring two
sureties of similar financial standing. Adekomaiya specified that the sureties must be level
14 officers in the civil service or equivalent.
