UK High Commissioner commends Speaker Gbajabiamila leadership.
The Outgoing United Kingdoms,UK, High Commissioner to Nigeria Ms Catriona Laing CB has expressed satisfaction over the leadership of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila in promoting electoral laws since her assumption of office in 2018.
Ms Catriona Laing gave the expression during a courtesy visit to the Speaker on Tuesday at the National Assembly.
She commended the Speaker for collaborating with the UK government and the Commission in supporting women in parliament and promoting laws for the progress of the country.
She expressed confidence that the incoming high Commissioner will work closely with Nigeria towards addressing any challenges in the legislative arm of the Nigerian government.
In his response, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila expressed appreciation for the visit while calling for more collaboration between Nigeria and the UK government,express appreciation for the visit.
Ms Catriona Laing CB the outgoing UK High Commissioner will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment as
Dr Richard Montgomery CMG has been appointed new UK High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria .
Mr Montgomery will take up his appointment in April 2023.
