Jigawa State Police Command has prosecuted no fewer than 390 protesters out of the
400 suspects arrested during the recent anti-hunger protest in the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, A.T. Abdullahi who disclosed this with newsmen in
Dutse on Thursday, said, the arrested protesters were from the 10 local government
areas and the violence was recorded during the protests, adding that, the protesters
were apprehended for vandalizing and looting government and public properties.
He also said, the protesters vandalized and looted the state government fertilizer stores
in Babura and Hadeja local government areas of the state, adding that, the Police were
able to recover some of the looted properties from the suspects.
The CP commended officers and men of the Command for their efforts to contain the
protest despite the shortage of manpower.
