Ghana’s
Deputy Finance Minister Kumah Dies At 45.
Ghana’s deputy finance minister, John Kumah has died in
Germany.
According to Africanews, Kumah died at the age of 45,
after a long battle with illness, which kept him in a German hospital for some
time.
The 45-year-old lawmaker confirmed dead but there was no
information on the circumstances of his death.
Kumah was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Ejisu
constituency in the 2020 general election in Ghana under the New Patriotic
Party.
He was then appointed Deputy Minister of Finance in April
2021.
The politician had served as the Chief Executive Officer
of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme.
He hailed from Ejisu Odaho, a farming community in the
Ejisu municipality in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
John Kumah attended Opoku Ware School (secondary
education) in Kumasi. He continued to the University of Ghana (Legon) in 1997
and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Philosophy.
In the year 2009, he was awarded an MBA (Finance) from
GIMPA. He also had a Degree in Law from the University of Ghana and a
Professional Law Degree from the Ghana School of Law.He also had his Post
Graduate Diploma in Applied Business Research from the Nobel International
Business School in 2019.
