As part of efforts to rid the Nigeria Immigration Service,NSI, of bad eggs and in furtherance of the Federal Government’s fight against corruption, the Nigeria Immigration Service has dismissed four personnel and demoted fourteen of its personnel for various offences following their appearance before the Orderly Room Trial Committee of the Service.
Confirming this in a Press Statement,the Service Public Relations Officer,Mr Tony Akuneme stated that four of personnel were discharged and acquitted, while two others were redeployed to other locations.
Eleven (11) of the Officers were issued warning letters while one (1) was compulsorily retired.
He further disclosed that eleven (11) personnel are still awaiting trial.
The Controller General of Immigration,CGI has assured the general public that there are no sacred cows in the Nigerian Immigration Service,NIS, as all offenders shall be appropriately sanctioned.
He is also urged members of public to be vigilant and support the Service to deliver more on its mandate.
