Group Faults Post-Election Conflicting Judgments.
Society Organization, Yiaga Africa, has faulted the Nigerian judiciary for its conflicting judgments and inconsistencies in some of the election petition cases brought before the court after the conclusion of the 2023 general elections.
The group said, conflicting judgments between the lower court and higher court in the Nasarawa petition and contrasting rulings in the Plateau petition, among others, got Nigerians wondering.
Yiaga also said, the national assembly should resolve irregularities regarding the collation and transmission of results in the Electoral Act 2022, adding that, in its report which analysed the country’s electoral process following the 2023 elections, from its survey findings, only 23 percent of Nigerians trust INEC, which signifies a crisis of confidence that must be addressed.
The organization called on President Bola Tinubu, to articulate and implement a definitive electoral reform agenda.
