NSCC partners with WHO, Others to provide integrated health care for aged people

The National Senior Citizen Centre (NSCC) says it is working with WHO, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) to provide integrated health care to older persons across the country.

The Director-General, NSCC, Dr Emem Omokaro spoke at the sideline of the debriefing meeting by Dr Claudia Mahler, UN Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of all Human Rights of Older Persons in Abuja.

During her mission in Nigeria the expert held cluster meetings with relevant MDAs with the full particition of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), being the focal agency on aging and older persons.


Dr Mahler observed there are challenges and rise insecurity even though Nigeria has the strong economy in Africa.


The UN expert called for more action to enhance progress in protecting older persons.


Ending a 12-day visit to the country, Claudia Mahler, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights for older persons, welcomed the Government’s progressive efforts in combatting poverty, security concerns, economic crisis, and gender-based inequalities faced by many older people.
