National Youth Service
Corps; NYSC, has denied what it describes as fake and misleading information
trending online where it was alleged to have deployed the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream
Two Prospective Corps members from the Eastern, Southern and Western parts of
the country to the North-West.
The scheme said that a
purported letter circulating on social media did not emanate from its office.
The NYSC said it is
backed by the constitution in its statutory and unbiased deployment policy
without tribal, religious and other sentiments, noting it has successfully done
this for the past fifty (50) years of its existence.
The Scheme called on
parents, guardians, prospective corps members and other members of the public
to disregard the malicious information.
According to the
statement signed by Eddy Megwa, its Director, Press and Public Relations, the
news lacked merit, was the imagination of the writer and was meant to raise
apprehension among the corps members for the next orientation exercise slated
for April 2024.
It said the purveyors of
fake news on NYSC programmes are strongly warned and advised to desist
henceforth, from peddling fake news.
