UNICEF To Support Flooding Victims.
United Nations Children’s Fund says it will collaborate with Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency to provide emergency support for victims of flooding in the state.
UNICEF’s Emergency Manager, Christiana Valderrama, stated this during a visit to the State Emergency Management Agency.
She emphasized on the importance of understanding risks, opportunities and challenges related to flooding, particularly those happening due to the overflow of Tiga Dam.
She said UNICEF will collaborate with SEMA and other stakeholders working on emergency responses to help the flooding victims in the state.
Dr Haruna Mairiga, Executive Secretary of SEMA, appreciated UNICEF’s gesture and assured them of accurate and accountable distribution of the cash transfer meant for flood victims.
