Support On Pathways For Nigerians.
National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally
Displaced Persons, has sought for collaboration with International Conference
on Population Development, towards initiating a policy for regular migration
pathways for Nigerians.
The Federal Commissioner of the NCFRMI, Tijani Ahmed,
stated this while speaking with newsmen when he received a delegation from the
ICMPD on a visit in Abuja on Wednesday.
Ahmed explained that having soften policy for regular
migration pathways would help Nigerian youths seeking to acquire development
skills in other countries and return afterwards.
He said that Nigerian national and state universities
were working on a center of excellence on migration” while calling for the
support of ICMPD and other international organizations towards the success and
development of Nigeria.
He said the meeting became necessary particularly as the
“Japa movement” increased, where many youth travel out of the country through
the irregular means.
Responding, Sedef Dearing, the Director for Migration
Dialogues and Cooperation of the ICMPD, pledged the organization’s support to
Nigeria on bridging the gaps in the Nigeria migration process.
