Arrest Woman For Poisoning One-Year-Old Daughter.
A woman simply identified as Rukayat is now in police
custody for allegedly poisoning her one-year-old daughter with an insecticide
in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.
A police source told our correspondent that the infant
had epilepsy and that the mother poisoned her because she was fed up with the
circumstances.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations
Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
He noted that the mother has been arrested and an
investigation is ongoing.
Last year, Lagos State Police Command had confirmed the
death of a 39-year-old woman, Lilian Nwarache, who drank an insecticide in the
Iwaya area of Lagos State. She was said to have been frustrated with having an
illness.
