Group Wants Hajj Commission To Unveil BTA For Pilgrims.

Group under the aegis of Independent Hajj Reporters is urging the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies to make public the amount to be paid to all intending pilgrims as Basic Travel Allowance for this year’s Hajj.

The group said, it has become necessary following the Hajj fares by both the NAHCON and states that did not indicate the amount that will be given to intending pilgrims as BTA contrary to usual practices over the years.

A statement signed by its national coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammed, said, BTA is an allowance of foreign currency that a Nigerian citizen, and the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia is allowed to draw from a Nigerian bank when travelling abroad, adding that it’s a part of the country’s foreign exchange controls and such money is included in the hajj fare components.
