Senate Minority Leader Speaks On Frustration Of PDP Members.
Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro says the ongoing call for the removal of the People’s Democratic Party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, said, the call is needless.
This is coming after about 60 lawmakers in the House of Representatives, led by Ikanga UgoChinyere, called for Damagum’s resignation, but the minority leadership of the Green Chamber disowned them, describing their coalition as unknown to the Lower Chamber.
Moro said, the calling for the resignation of the acting party chairman is not a viable solution, adding that, the party is a voluntary organization, and urged its members to focus on strengthening their unity rather than engaging in divisive actions.
He acknowledged the frustrations among party members, and attributing them to the fallout from the PDP’s failure to win elections in 2023, stressing that, the lack of frequent meetings by the party’s elective council has contributed to the party’s current state of discontent.
However, a coalition comprising support groups within the PDP in Nasarawa State and PDP Front liners are demanding for the National Chairmanship position to be filled by Ombugadu, adding that, even adversaries of the PDP recognize the party as a cohesive, well-organized, and structured political entity that upholds the principles of federal character, justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria.
