INEC Chairman Expresses Satisfaction With Performance of BIVAS Machine During Mock Accreditation Exercise.
As the mock accreditation exercise took place on Saturday, nationwide ,the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has expressed satisfaction so far with the performance of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS).
Prof Yakubu expressed this when he monitored the February 4 Mock Accreditation of voters in some Polling Units in the,Federal Capital Territory, FCT, ahead of the 2023 elections.
The Chairman said the aim of Commission is to ensure that the BIVAS machines are working optimally before the main election date.
In polling units visited by the INEC chairman, it was observed that
it took less than 30 seconds to accredited a voter.
INEC Staff were on ground to attend to any machine failure in case of unforseen circumstances.
The Chairman interacted with adhoc staff to find out challenges experienced in the exercise.
Some voters who participated in the exercise also expressed their satisfaction with the performance of the BIVAS machine.
437 polling units with four from each Local Government Area and two Senatorial district each across 16 States in the country were identified by the Commission
to test run the BVAS machines.
