Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Ronsewe has urged the National Assembly to enact laws that will put to check the of foreign cultures with negative effect on Nigerians.
Ronsewe expressing concern when he appeared before the House Committee investigating duplication of functions by Agencies of Federal Government.
The DG said the impact of the Big Brother Naija, BBN show and cross dressing by Bobrisky and others, imported foreign cultures is robbing off negatively on the local culture,noting that BBN is characterisd by nudity and sex which is alien to the Nigeria culture.
The Director General favored the merging of the parastatals to strengthen them.
The agencies included National Commission for Museums and Monuments, National Council for Arts and Culture, National Gallery of Art, Nigeria Tourism Development Commission, and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism.
In his presentation, the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, Nura Kangiwa said his Institute provide training provider for people in Tourism sector.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Victor Danzaria,earlier in his remarks said the Committee following a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives was mandated to look into root causes of regular bickering amongst agencies of government, establish areas of merger,synergy as well as justification of existence.
