NUJ Commends
Fubara For Appointing Chukwudi CPS.
Nigerian union of journalist in rivers state has
commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for the appointment,
Nelson Chukwudi as his Chief Press Secretary and the plans to renovate the
Ernest Ikoli Press Centre which houses the Union's Secretariat Complex.
The Congress which was presided over by the Chairman,
Comrade Stanley Job Stanley also had in attendance the National Vice President,
Zone F of NUJ, Comrade Opaka Dokubo and the National Deputy President of the
Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Dr. Lilian Okonkwo Ogabu extensively
deliberated and resolved as follows:
The Union appealed to the Governor to reintroduce the
quarterly media interactive session to keep the public abreast with the
programmes and policies of his administration as well as efforts to develop the
state.
The Union also commended the Governor for the massive
promotion in the state civil service and increased efforts to clear the backlog
of gratuity of retirees which thousands of civil servants were denied in the
last eight years.
The Union frowned on the Illegal disconnection of power
supply at Rivers State NUJ Secretariat Complex by the Port Harcourt Electricity
Distribution Company, even when the Union was not indebted to the company.
The Union pledges to work with present administration led
by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to enable it develop the state.
