Coalition of Speakership Aspirants Rejects Tajudeen Abbas, Call for Fairness.


 A Coalition of aspirants for Speakership for the 10th House of Representatives led by Deputy Speaker, Hon. Idris Wase have raised opposition against the choice of . Tajudeen Abbas for the office by the National Working Committee, NWC of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Hon. Idris Wase who raised the opposition at the official declaration of Hon. Muktar Betera for the office of speaker of the 10th Assembly in Abuja, called on lawmakers not to allow the parliament to be hijacked noting that consensus requires discussion by critical stakeholders and wide consultations, which was not done.

 On his part,Hon Alhassan Ado Dogua who is another aspirant as well as a Lawmaker,Hon Dada Soli, said the parliament must always be allowed to choose its leaders, noting that it is not for outsiders to decide who leads the House.

While declaring his intention to vie  for the position of Speakership, Hon. Muktar Betara, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation called on all members of the House of Representatives  to extend their hand of support to move the parliament forward in the interest of the nation.

 Contenders to the office of the House  Speaker for the soon to be inaugurated 10th House of Representatives forged alliance with their co-contestant, Muktar Betara who is the chairman of appropriation committee.

The ceremony was also attended by Umar Bago, an outgoing member who is now the Governor-elect for Niger State; Mohammed Mongunu from Borno State who is now Senator-elect and a handful of other lawmakers from across the political parties.
