The management of the National Assembly say,  the National Assembly complex is not under siege by officers of the Department of State Security (DSS).

The statement by the National Assembly management follows a trending video on social media alleging that the National Assembly complex is under siege by officer’s of the Department of State Security (DSS).

A Press release by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, commended  the National Assembly leadership and Members, Top Government officials, Security Agencies and the general public, who through phone calls expressed concerns and solidarity.

He called for and Investigation by the relevant security agencies of the user of twitter handle account where the Alleged video emanated from to forestall future abuse and spreading of misinformation into the media space capable of creating panic, mischief and anxiety leading to break down of law and order as this repost, may have be intended.

Agada  also expressed concern over what the motive of  this mischief marker is set out to achieve with the repost, gauging the political mood of the country and the fourth coming general elections.

He said the attention of the National Assembly management,has been drawn to an unverified video trending on social media tweeted from the twitter handle account of one @Chukwuebuka, alleging the siege of the National Assembly complex by officer’s of the Department of State Security (DSS),noting that the reposted unverified video clips was a reported incident that took place in 2018 at the main entrance gate leading into the National Assembly complex, which is presently under reconstruction near it’s completion for Commissioning.

Agada urged  members of the National Assembly, Staff and the general public to discountenance the said unverified malicious, mischievous and misleading reposted video as fake news in it’s entirety as the National Assembly members currently on recess and staff are not under any siege by the DSS.

He assured that the new Clerk of the National Assembly, Alh. Sani magaji Tambuwal and his Management team are fully incharge, focused and determined to achieve their set goals inline with their core mandates to motivate the workforce to provide the expected support services to the National Assembly leadership and members, federal Government and the general public.
