CJN Advises Judges To Uphold Rule Of Law.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has advised judges to shun fear as they carry out their duties and giving priority to their integrity with steadfastness in the face of daunting challenges by protecting and upholding the rule of law.

Ariwoola, who disclosed this at the induction course for newly appointed judges of the superior courts of record, held at the National Judicial Institute, in Abuja spoke through Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey, who also advised the newly appointed judges to be humble in recognizing the limits of their knowledge and seek guidance through education and support while learning from fellow judges.

The CJN also said, the role of judges is a critical one that demands an understanding of their position as priests in the temple of justice and defenders of the rule of law, which has a significant impact on the lives of individuals, communities and society as a whole.

In his welcome address, the Nigeria Judicial Institute Administrator, Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, urged the new judges to be steadfast and stay the course on the side of fairness and integrity and become persons who have subordinated or given up their personal desires and aspirations to become committed to addressing injustice, protecting the rule of law, promoting equality before the law and human rights of the people in the country.
