As Nigeria sails closer to the 2023 general elections the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission NBC Mr. Balarabe Ilelah has charged Media organizations and broadcasters not to allow contents and comments that is capable of destroying the nation.
Mr. Balarabe Ilelah said this at a sensitisation forum on political broadcasting ahead of political campaigns slated to officially start on the 28th of September.
The commission called on the broadcasters to be professional in the discharge of the duties and make use of the provided instruments as a guide such as the ethics of the profession, NBC act, NBC CODE on political broadcast, the electoral act 2022 and other extant laws.
Within the next 5 months to the general elections the broadcast media is placed at the middle of the storm, pulled by the political actors and the economic reality it faces year in year out.

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Mahmoud Yakubu in his remark rested on the provisions of the law particularly section 95 of the electoral act as he addressed the issue around restrictions and denial of opposition parties access to public facilities and state media by some state government as well as expensive tax charges on public facilities saying that it is illegal.
Representing the inspector general of police Usman Alkalai baba AIG Bala Ciroma said stakeholders in the forthcoming elections must put national interest above every other interest calling on thee media to embrace responsible reportage.
