Catholic Secretariat calls on President Buhari to end attacks on churches.
In a bid to address the incessant Killings, Kidnappings, as well as gross abuse of human rights in different parts of the country, the Catholic Secretariat Abuja has is calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to take decisive steps put an end to these crisis.
Director, of Department of Church and Society, Catholic Secretariat, Reverend Father Uchechukwu Obodochina in a Press conference in Abuja on the state of the nation, lamented the recent gruesome killing of a Catholic Priest, Father Isaac Achi of Kafin-koro of Minna Diocese, Niger State by suspected bandits.
He expressed worry that there has been 47 recorded attacks on the Catholic Church-killing of Catholic priests, nuns, and seminarians, and burning of churches and church-owned facilities, Reverend Father.
He also urged federal government and security agencies safeguard the lives and properties of the Citizenry, irrespective of their Faith and political affiliation.
According to the Director, Department of Church and Society of Catholic Secretariat, Nigeria is a secular state that must be rule with justice and equity for all Citizens.
The call to action is coming on the heels of the gruesome murder of Fr. Isaac Achi the parish priest of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Madalla in Niger State, on December 25th, 2022, during Christmas day mass where over 50 parishioners were also gruesomely killed in a bomb blast.
