Reps Urge Military To Avoid Retaliation.
House of Representatives has urged the military to refrain from retaliating against innocent residents of Delta State following the murder of 17 military personnel in Okuama, a community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
The appeal was disclosed in a motion of urgent national importance presented by Honourable Babajimi Benson, while, the House expressed concern that any retaliation could further demoralize the military, and there was need to prevent further escalation of the situation. The House also called on the military to abide by the law and avoid any actions that could lead to further retaliation.
The House Committee on Defence has been directed to lead the investigation and reconciliation process to prevent any further escalation of the situation.
This is coming after Okuama community was razed following the killings of military personnel, while, the Defence Headquarters has assured the public that, there would be no reprisal attacks on law-abiding citizens.
