Media Practitioners charged to maintain professionalism; as 2022 DELCOM Workshop holds in Delta State.

The Delta State Government has reiterated it's commitment to building the capacity of media professionals and Communicators in line with his human capital development agenda

Governor Okowa stated this while declaring open the 4th edition of the three day Delta State Communication workshop in Asaba, the state capital.

Governor Okowa who was represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Mr Oghenekevwe Agas said the annual workshop, single handedly sponsored by the state Government was vital, as it was designed to build the capacity of political appointees, media partners, social media influencers and bloggers drawn from different parts of the state.

He described the theme "Crisis Communication Strategies and Management in Political Power Transition" as apt, especially as the 2023 election drew near, and commended the passion and consistency of the Chief Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Fred Latimore- Oghenesivbe, in sourcing a cocktail of priced professionals to impact on the participants.

The Chief Coordinator who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to the State Governor, Dr Fred Latimore-Oghenesivbe, thanked Governor Okowa for his support which has sustained the program for four years now, adding that this year's edition brings the number of beneficiaries from the workshop to 600 persons.

In their remarks, the PDP Chairman, Delta State, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, the Commissioner for Information Mr Charles Aniagwu represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mr Clement Ofuani, the Permanent Secretary Government House and Protocol, Sir Edwin Ogidi-, Gbegbaje, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olise Ifeajika and the Communication Manager to the Delta State Government, Mr. Jackson Ekugwom urged participants to equip themselves with facts, figures, statistics and agenda policies of government to enable them present fair and unbiased reports.

Correspondent Godwin Emeyazia reports that the resource persons, Professor Abigail Ogwezzy, Dr. Joyce Ogwezi and Dr. Monday Ashibogwu took the participants through various topics ranging from Effective Communication Strategies in Political Campaigns, Crisis Communication Management in Media Politics and Governance, Effective Communication Tools, Strategies and Campaigns Target Audiences, and Role of Media Strategists in Elections/ Power Transition.
