Zone 16 Police Command headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has
paraded ten individuals accused of various offenses, including internet
fraud, possession of charms and illegal drugs, and involvement in ritualistic
activities.
Speaking to the press at the command’s headquarters in Yenagoa, the
Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Ewhoborwo Emonena Gunn,
revealed that the suspects were apprehended in Port Harcourt, Rivers
State. The arrested individuals are: Godwill (23 years old), Princewill
Oguama (20 years old), Anyanwu Oluebube (19 years old), Tochukwu
Ajaegbu (27 years old), Daniel Samuel (21 years old), Akanimoh Joshua
(22 years old), Chukwunye Ubeh (19 years old), Peter James (28 years
old), Gentle Nelson (22 years old), and Ruth Kossiwa (22 years old).
Gunn noted that the arrests occurred on Monday at No. 4, Peterson
Avenue, Ogbogoro, Port Harcourt. Following their arrest, the suspects will
face arraignment and prosecution once the investigations are completed.
He further added that the suspects admitted to engaging in various
fraudulent activities, with evidence supporting their confessions. They will
be prosecuted once the investigation is finalized.
The Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 16, Paul Alifa Omata,
reaffirmed his officers’ commitment to safeguarding the lives and property
of residents in Bayelsa and Rivers states. He emphasized that the police
are diligently fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities, and the Inspector
General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reiterated his commitment to
ensuring public safety and security.
During the press conference, Ruth Kossiwa, the sole female suspect,
claimed that she was visiting her boyfriend of one month when she was
detained along with the others on Monday morning.
