Ogun State Police Command said its officers
at Ogijo, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, have arrested one
Chizoke Obiadada aged 54 and his 17-year-old son, Micheal, for beating to death
their neighbor’s wife, Tope Owoade.The spokesperson for the state police
command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement made available to
journalists on Saturday.
Obiadada and his son were said to have
engaged the deceased in a fight after insisting that nobody should sit on a
table which she used in selling cow skin, popularly known as “ponmo”
The suspects were arrested
after the deceased’s husband, Isiaka, reported the incident to the police
at the Ogijo Divisional Headquarters.
After receiving this report, the Ogijo
Divisional Police Officer immediately ordered the arrest of the culprits, and
they are currently undergoing preliminary investigations.
Odutola said the case would be transferred
to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this
report, effort was said to be ongoing to deposit the deceased at
Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu morgue for post-mortem
examination.
