Abducted female doctor: NARD gives 10-day ultimatum

Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, in the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching

Hospital, Zaria, Kaduna State, has given the government and the security agencies a

10-day ultimatum for the unconditional release of their colleague, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola.

The doctors vowed to embark on industrial action if their request was not met within

the stipulated time.

The association’s President and the Secretary, Dr. Suleiman Isah Adah and Dr. Jimoh

Aminat, respectively, during a press conference at ABUTH, said, they would not

guarantee industrial harmony if by the 26th of August, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola is not

released or rescued, adding that, Popoola’s husband was subsequently released due to

his deteriorating health condition, after meeting the demands of the abductors.

NARD cautioned that if the abducted doctor was not rescued in 10 days, members

would be forced to embark on strike, and called on the government, the security

agencies and all relevant authorities to intensify efforts to secure their colleague’s

freedom.
