Dismisses Speaker’s Impeachment
Leadership of the Zamfara State House of Assembly has
said the elected principal officials remain constitutionally recognized, saying
the impeachment of the Speaker was illegal.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief
Press Secretary of the House, Comrade Bello MadaroKurya, saying that the
principal officers were constitutionally voted in by the members of the Seventh
Assembly during its inaugural sitting in June last year and are still
overseeing their respective constitutional mandates.
The statement therefore urged the general public to note
that there is no constitutional threat to the leadership of the present Seventh
Assembly of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
Recall that on Friday, February 23, 2024, 18 lawmakers in
the House announced the impeachment of the Speaker, Hon. Biliyaminu Ismail
Moriki.
